Nanotechnology A New Option For Cancer - 2102 Words
Nanotechnology - A new option for cancer? B. Specht Introduction Nanotechnology has become something of a buzzword in recent times. This is primarily due to it being a new and emerging science, but also because of its amazing applications and uses. Nanotechnology encompasses a varied array of subcategories in chemistry, biology, and physics. Generally, it includes all particles which are on the order of 1 billionth of a meter. [1]. As the particles involved are this small, it allows a variety of new technologies as well as new options for the treatment of diseases. Cancer is but one of these few diseases which nanotechnology has presented a new and refreshing chance to find a treatment. Cancer can be defined by anomalous and invasiveâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It is possible to attach to these gold nanoparticles antibodies that specifically bind to proteins of interest and then tag these particles with identifiable DNA strands. The proteins of interest then bind to these antibodies which are attached to the gold nanoparticle, then then add anot her seeking antibody attached to a magnetic bead. Then magnets are used to separate the sample from everything around it and sequence the DNA strands.[3] If this same technique is used to hunt cancer proteins, it could be very easily used for early detection of cancer. This same principle can be used to image cancer cells. Just by switching the gold nanoparticle for a quantum dot(QD), this can then use the same seeking method as the gold nanoparticle and be used in imaging the tumor cells.[4] Another use for these gold nanoparticles is in gold nanoshells. These nanoshells can be injected into the area which the tumor is, and combined with the original seeking system mentioned earlier attach to the tumorous cells. These nanoshells can then be irradiated with a 820-nm, 4 W/cmà ² light pulses. The result found was that the area underwent a temperature change which caused the destruction of tumor cells. [1] This can be seen to be a very good way of treating the cancer cells as it leave s the surrounding cells untouched, and only ââ¬Ëcooksââ¬â¢ the

Without this order, there would be utter chaos. Discipline is a basic requirement of a civilized society. Citizens of a disciplined nation work with a spirit of cooperation and unity. Aristotle has rightly said, ââ¬Å"Discipline is obedience to rules formed by the society for the good of all. Discipline should be inculcated from a very young age. Talent and genius alone are not enough to achieve success. Discipline has an equally important role to play. Talents blossom in a disciplined person. Discipline in schools may reduce the violence and vandalism and help the students to focus better on their studies and career. Discipline is important even in the family. Parents must raise their children in a pleasant and disciplined atmosphere. They should teach them the right values. They should themselves lead an orderly life so that their children can learn from their example. Children growing in disciplined and happy homes become responsible adults. All should follow the rules and regulations laid by law. Discipline means full realization of the sense of responsibility. This will bring progress and prosperity in the society and the nation. A proper and reasonable balance has to be stuck between liberty and discipline. The restraints or discipline must course be designed for the social good and it is obvious that excessive restraints will inevitably lead to the erosion of human liberties. MY ROLE AS A STUDENT My role as student in a society entails various things. Firstly, to concentrate on studies so that I develop into well-educated individual that make significant contributions to the society in the future. Secondly, to pass on whatever knowledge I have to others. This can take on many forms ranging from helping your siblings to creating awareness about environmental issues such as global warming. Thirdly, to act as responsible youth. This means to steer clear of any unlawful activities. It also involves not damaging the society and avoiding acts of destruction. As a student I shall try and refrain myself from all such activities for my benefit as well as the societyââ¬â¢s. Fourthly, to do what I can to protect my environment and society. As a student I shall avoid litter places and should try to invest a few hours into community services if possible. As student I will also try to behave respectfully to the elders of the society and take care of their needs i. e. help an elder to cross a road; stand up and make space for an elder to sit if there is none. Exploring Marketing Research Strategy and Management
Question: Discuss about the Exploring Marketing Research Strategy and Management. Answer: Introduction: Each organization who expects to achieve a competitive place in the market shall carry out a research in about the market. The research includes stating about the opportunities and problem with the marketing of the product, evaluating and collecting data regarding the current market for the intended product and finally reporting about the findings and recommends the solution regarding the issues (Armstrong et al. 2014). Market research is not an easy task as various variables are there to be taken into account while researching. For example, if the organization want to introduce any new product and conduct a survey regarding that, it is very tough to figure out that whether the participants are giving honest reply or just replying positive as they feel that the surveyor prefer to get positive reply. It is not that the market research will give exact and accurate data for achieving the success, however, it gives an idea about how to proceed for getting success. Market research can be carried out for any kind of product with the target customers for the intended product (marketing, 2012). The process of marketing research is a four-step procedure that includes defining or stating the problem, developing the plan for research, collection of data and preparing the final report (Babin and Zikmund 2015). Defining the problem Defining the problem states taking the intended product or service in the market and evaluating about how the intended product will fit in the market. Part of the procedure can be van be test market for the new product to evaluate if the target customers for the intended product respond unfavourably or favourably to the product. Defining the issue regarding the intended product includes two steps that is setting the objectives and measuring the goals to be achieved (Hong and Li 2017). The main objective of the business is to increase the sales. The next objective is to set up the specific measures for success and criteria that must be used to find a solution for the issue. Through defining the problem the organization will be able to decide regarding whether they should move forward with their plan or make ant alterations in the plan (Baker 2014). Due to global financial crisis during 2008, the businesses are searching at the bottom line when it goes for financial and banking services. The small businesses who are engaged in importing, generally requires long-term loans for making payments for their import. Further, they want to protect themselves against depreciation of home currency against the country from which the import is made. However, the bank is not always in a position to provide loan for long term period. Further, the issues with most of the borrower are that they are not in a position to pledge any asset with the bank, however, the bank is not a position to provide loan without sufficient pledge as security (Malhotra, Birks and Wills 2013). Developing the research plan The next step in the marketing research is developing the plan for the research. The research plan allows solving the issues regarding the required information that will be needed for marketing decisions. The data is required to be identified for making the marketing decisions. While carrying out the research, lot of irrelevant data are collected, however the researcher must sort out the data for using making the final report. Therefore, the researcher must develop right methods and concepts for collection of data. Under the marketing concept various ideas are formed for intended service or product. Further, this gives the target customers an opportunity for getting an idea regarding the product (Boons and Ldeke-Freund 2013). For planning the research for increasing the market share of the bank, firstly, it is required to obtain the data from the target customers for their preference and requirement. For the small importers the crucial requirement is long-term fund as they have to make payments for their imports over long term period. Further, they need short-term finance for making advance payments to the importers. Another crucial issue is that as the importers are carrying out their business at small level, they do not have sufficient assets to give for pledging the loan. On the other side, the banks are not able to provide loans without security. Moreover, the term of the loan that is asked by the borrower is quite high for the provider. The banks are considering some alternatives to increase the number of borrowers and thereby increase their market shares (Bryman and Bell 2015). Collection of information Once the concepts of research method are clearly identified, the next step is to collect the data through primary data or secondary data. Under the primary research, the data is collected through personal interviews, surveys and providing questionnaires to the target audience. On the other hand, the data is collect under secondary research from various websites, journals thesis papers that are already published in the past (Strauss 2016). Here in the given situations, data is required for the market research of bank to increase their shares for providing services to the importers having sales turnover of 5 to 50 millions. The data is collected from various small importers through personal interviews and surveys. It is identified from the data that greater than 70% of the banking executives are in the view that the customers are most important factor to them. The fact is that the banking and financial sectors are struggling for earning profit from the rapid increased date. However, the banks normally use a small amount of data to improve the customers experience. For example, it is identified from the research that more than 50% of the banks analyse the external data of customers such as online behaviour and only 29% of the banks evaluate the actual requirement of the customer. It is also identified that, the importers want to borrow loans at their own terms such as the term of the loan, interest rate and allowable amo unt. For instance, the bank asks for the business proposal for granting the loan and based on the proposal only the amount of loan is decided. However, most of the times the borrower negotiates on the approved amount and in few cases, they even fail to provide the business proposal with all the details. Some of the borrower again thinks that preparing the business plan for presenting it to the bank is simply wastage of money. Therefore, they are not very keen to prepare the business plan and without the plan it is quite tough for the banks to allocate funds (Neuman 2016). Preparing final report Once the required data are collected data must be analysed and based on that the final report must be prepared. The data must be relevant for the intended purpose and ensure that the data will be related to the intended products and services. The final report simply gives the detail about the research findings and for providing recommendations on the basis of those findings. It will suggest if any alterations are required to be made in the plan or for taking further necessary actions. It is found from the report that the importers are facing the problems regarding the terms of payment and the interest rates. With high rate of interest, the small importers are not able to borrow large amount of loan as it give them more burden of repayment the loan and they will end up with repayment to the banks rather than payment to the exporters. Further, the importers feel that the interest rate offered by the bank for investing money is not satisfactory and they prefer to invest money with other forms like in share market and bonds to derive more income over short-term period and protect themselves from the risk of depreciation of domestic currency and appreciation of foreign currency. Further, some of the importers are not happy with the strict regulations of the banks for investing and withdrawing their money (Berger and Bouwman 2013). Another major issue that is faced by the importers is when they apply to bank for letter of credit and the main problem associated with that is the drafting of the documents that includes airway bills, bill of lading, the cargo type, details of cargo from where it is originating and where it is reaching. The bank requires the exact name of the counter party and the details of the sellers. Moreover, the importers need the name of the bank and account number of the counter party. If any mistake is found in the details, the letter of credit is not approved. Sometimes the importers find it very complex method whereas the bank feels it very important part. It is further found that the customers are more comfortable with the the on-line banking and mobile banking through using the app (Porter and Williams 2016). Conclusion: It is found from the above discussion that, the main issues with the importers are the interest rates, term of repayment, offered interest rate by the banks and strict regulation of the bank. With regard to all the issues, the following can be recommended to the banks for increasing their market share: Banks should make the access system easy and simple, so that more people can use the banking service with less problem and time. They can launch an app whuch will provide all services that are normally required by the customers. The charging and offering interest rate of the banks shall be differentiated based on the requirements and period of investment or borrowings They should introduce lending plan specifically for the importers keeping in mind their unique requirements. The banks should reduce their strict regulations so that more people can be able to use the banking services. One key point of success is that they must listen to the customers. They must arrange a meeting at least semi-annually with the customers where the customers will be free to discuss about their issues and requirements. If the bank can implement all the above things, they will definitely be able to achieve more customers as well as increase their market share. Willys tragic Flaw and the efeect it has upon his Essay Example For Students
Willys tragic Flaw and the efeect it has upon his Essay sonsdeath of a SalesmanWillyââ¬â¢s Tragic Flaw and the Effect it Has Upon his SonsDeath of a Salesman by Arthur Miller concerns itself with the fall of a simple man perpetually in a steadfast state regarding his own failure in a success-driven society. The protagonist of the play, Willy Loman, will follow a tragic trajectory that will eventually lead to his suicide. Arthur Millers tragic play is an accurate portrayal of the typical American myth that sustains an extreme craving for success and a belief in the illusion of the American dream, a dream attainable only by a handful of people. Having chosen a career in sales Willy Loman constantly aspires to become great. Nevertheless, Willy is a poor aging salesman that considers himself to be a failure when comparing himself to his successful father and brother, but he is incapable of consciously admitting it. Consequently, Willy will measure his level of success with the level of success attained by his offspring, particularly his el dest son Biff. Their difficult relationship contribute to the playââ¬â¢s main plot. Willy unfolds his deluded perception and recollection of the events as the audience gradually witnesses the tragic downfall of a man shadowed by a mental illness that has already began to take itââ¬â¢s toll on his mind and personality. We will write a custom essay on Willys tragic Flaw and the efeect it has upon his specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Willy Loman will bring his downfall upon himself as he entices his own disillusions and the bedrock of his values pertaining to success and how one can achieve it. His failure to recognize the fruitless outcome of his own idealism will seal his fated suicide and have a determining effect on the failures of his two sons that when adolescent, idolized their father as a guide and model. This misguidance delivered so boldly by their father will lead both sons into believing and adopting Willyââ¬â¢s unrealistic and disillusioned perceptions of life. Although Willy is in reality an unsuccessful salesman he continually speaks of himself and of his two sons in his brash ways, as being part of those whom have affluence and destitution, those whom can become great leaders in the world. Linda, Willys wife, honourably stands by him even as he start to slowly degenerate into illusion that he cannot differentiate from reality anymore. To some extent Linda is not part of the solution but rather part of the problem with the familyââ¬â¢s inability to face reality. Linda loves Willy to the extent of accepting her husbandââ¬â¢s distorted views of reality and falling herself in his world of dreams and aspirations. In doing so, she is telling her sons without a word that their fatherââ¬â¢s destructive direction in life is perfectly viable. Linda also vocalises the main conflict between Biff and his father at the very beginning of the play; ââ¬Å"You know how he admires you. I think if he finds himself, then youââ¬â¢ll both be happier and fight no more.â⬠(p.15) This statement implies the level of control Willy wishes to have on his sons, particularly Biff, as well as his unrealistically high expectations towards them; ââ¬Å"God Almighty, heââ¬â¢ll be great yet. A star like that, magnificent, can never really fade away.â⬠(p.68). However, Biff being a failure ever since he dropped out of school will desperately try to achieve a better knowledge of himself instead of one filtered by his father. In the end, although the dept of Willyââ¬â¢s strive for success sustains a refusal to acknowledge the failure of both himself and his sons, his eldest son Biff will save himself of the alienation of the social forces that destroyed his father, while his younger brother will succumb to his fatherââ¬â¢s tantalizing dream by pledging to achieve where his father has not. Throughout his sonââ¬â¢s adolescence Willy has unwittingly instilled in them the belief that appearances are more important than actual achievement or talent, contrasting his athletic and handsome sons with the hardworking yet uncharismatic Bernard: ââ¬Å" Thatââ¬â¢s why I thank Almighty God youââ¬â¢re both built like Adonises. Because the man who makes an appearance in the business world, the man who creates personal interest, is the man who gets ahead. Be liked and you will never want,â⬠(p.33) Willy values personality over any measurable barometer of achievement, which he dismisses as unimportant in the business world. Ironically, Willy himself fails following his own advice when in the end, he is fired by a man with whom he entertained a life-long relationship. The contrast that Willy makes is between men who are ââ¬Ëlikedââ¬â¢ and those who are ââ¬Ëwell-likedââ¬â¢, believing that to be ââ¬Ëwell-likedââ¬â¢, as defined by charisma and physical appea rance, is the major criterion for success. This tragic error will largely contribute to his downfall.. Thus, his sons, particularly Biff, loose interest for academics, valuing athletic achievement instead of their studies. Happy continually brags that he is losing weight, while Biff, ready to go to college on an athletic scholarship, shows enough disregard for his studies to fail math. Biffââ¬â¢s reckless behaviour as an adolescent is addressed by denial from his father that sustains that his son is vowed to a successful life in business. Biffââ¬â¢s non reprimanded mistakes as a teenager will foreshadow his later troubles as an adult. As an adolescent he steals from the locker room without reprimand from his father the same way he steals from Bill Oliver as an adult. This reinforces the values that Willy has instilled in his sons. In the second flashback of the play presenting Biff and Happy together, Happy brags about losing weight again, showing his focus on physical appeara nce and athleticism, while Biff steals from the nearby construction site. For Willy, this crime is not important. This demonstrates the insufficiencies of Willys views on success: he attributes success to luck or immorality and cannot see the virtues of hard work and discipline as shown by Charley and Bernard. Although the American dream that he pursues prescribes hard work to achieve financial success, Willy cannot conceive that hard work and dedication are critical for achieving it. Although Willy does not speak directly to Happy or Biff on how to treat woman, his behaviour will determine Happyââ¬â¢s relationship with woman. Miller indicates that it is from his father that Happy gained his disrespect for women, whom Willy believes should not be taken seriously: ââ¬Å"Because a girl, yââ¬â¢know, they always believe what you tellââ¬â¢emâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (p.27) He displays the same disregard for women that Happy demonstrates as an adult. Happy disregards women with whom he has insubstantial relationships and Willy cheats on the devoted Linda. Hence, Willyââ¬â¢s womanizer behaviour on the road will determine Happyââ¬â¢ character flaws that gears him towards trouble. Like his father he is a compulsive womanizer, who tells lies to the women he meets. For example, when both sons are at the restaurant waiting for their father, Happy claims that Biff is a professional athlete, to finally forget about his father in favour of seducing Miss Forsythe. In the final, most cruel move that Happy makes, he denies that Willy is his father, thus repudiating his father even more than Biff has done by fleeing the Loman house to live a life marked by crime and virtually no gainful employment. Thus, Biff does little out of calculation, but merely continues his pattern of foolish mistakes. While Biff may have started to fail in order to spite his father, by the time he becomes an adult, his self-destructive behaviour is ingrained. .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 , .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .postImageUrl , .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 , .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5:hover , .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5:visited , .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5:active { border:0!important; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5:active , .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5 .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uaea19383b89cd06f6e7686f3c13822d5:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The charming phrase ââ¬Å"Mother Earthâ⬠EssayAs adults, even though Happy persistently follows his fatherââ¬â¢s footsteps, falling to discern the fine line between Willyââ¬â¢s illusions of reality and reality itself, Biff succeeds in breaking the vicious circle of illusion. One can pinpoint a turning point in Biff and Willyââ¬â¢s relationship. Biff never wanted to go to summer school and thus graduate high school after visiting his father in New England. In a way, Willy is directly responsible for Biffs failures. Biffââ¬â¢s self-destructive behaviour seemingly emerges from a sentiment of spite towards his father. Willys hallucination about Young Biff fai ling math and visiting him in Boston gives a greater indication for the reason why Biff accumulated such animosity towards his father. The profound deception Biff feels towards his father whom he idolized seemingly provides the motivation for Biffs spiteful, self-destructive behaviour. Biffs refusal to take a summer school course and thus pass math, is the critical event that determined his successive failures. It is Willys infidelity that prompted the change in Biff, as he learned that his father was having an affair. Hence, this revelation for Biff triggers a new sense of perceptiveness and critical awareness towards the image that his father is desperately attempting to uphold. Willy has in fact carelessly deceived those around him by creating a tantalizing image of himself and thus reflecting it upon his sons that he feels are breaded from the greatness he attributes himself. The realization or acknowledgement by Biff of his fatherââ¬â¢s falsehood will have a determining impa ct on the outcome of his life. Several years later, when Biff realizes the full extent of his fatherââ¬â¢s failure and attempts to escape it by the means of suicide, he will fully recognize the amplitude and consequences of his fatherââ¬â¢s disillusions. Biff will therefore confront his father with his long acquired knowledge of himself and acceptance of his own simple mediocrity. Witnessing the despair of his father, a man that in the end, only wishes to die instead of acknowledging his own mistakes, makes Biff change his outlook upon himself, revealing a much truer image, an image undistorted by his fatherââ¬â¢s disillusions; ââ¬Å"Pop! Iââ¬â¢m a dime a dozen, and so are you!â⬠(p.132). However, his father chooses to believe in the tangled lie he has constructed for himself and his family. As Biff pleads his father to ââ¬Å"take that phony dream and burn it before something happens?.â⬠(p.133), Willy is deaf to his sons cries until the end; ââ¬Å"That boy-that boy is going to be magnificen tâ⬠(p.133)The requiem of the play, or the cemetery seen, tells us a lot about how both sons have dealt with their fatherââ¬â¢s fatal flaw. Happy and Biff interpret Willys suicide in terms of these business dreams: Happy wishes to stay in the city and succeed where his father failed, while Biff rejects the business dream that destroyed his father and plans to leave New York. Happy decides to follow his fatherââ¬â¢s footsteps having blinded himself, just as his father did, from reality. As he state it himself ââ¬Å" Iââ¬â¢m gonna show you and everybody else that Willy Loman did not die in vain. He had a good dream. Itââ¬â¢s the only dream you can have-to come out number-one man.(â⬠¦) Iââ¬â¢m gonna win for himâ⬠(p.138-139). He thus reinstates that Willyââ¬â¢s dream is realistic and attainable. Biff on the other hand, has a firm grasp on reality, and chooses not to make the same mistakes his father made: ââ¬Å"He had the wrong dreams. All, all, wrong. â⬠(p.138).The contrast between Happy and Biff definitely re-emphasises an ongoing gap between reality and illusion throughout the entire play, and brings about a better understanding of the depth of Willy Lomanââ¬â¢s tragic flaw. Hence, this strive for success as defined by the American dream has only room for a few men. An impossible dream for the average man that Happy will never attain, a dream rejected by Biff that finally searches within himself for happiness rather than in the eyes of the one that beholds this fallacious dream, his father. .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d , .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .postImageUrl , .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d , .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d:hover , .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d:visited , .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d:active { border:0!important; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d:active , .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc104d533b9aa9e8ce8cd290d459d3c9d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: German And Dutch Influence On American Housing EssayBibliography:

Sample Expository Essay
Sample Expository EssayA sample expository essay is a great way to find out if your writer's eye is honed and ready for the more challenging writing assignments in the college curriculum. It is also a good idea to see how well you understand the style of writing to be used in your essay in order to make sure that you do not come off as less than an essay. For starters, the sample expository essay should be short. The problem with shorter essay is that they tend to be brief and limited in content, thereby making them boring and uninteresting. Since your intended audience will be reading the essay, you do not want to spend too much time on material that is not worth your time. It is far better to cut it down considerably to see if you can get through the essay without too much trouble. However, in case you want to go too much overboard with the word count, be prepared to lose out on a number of points. This is because the shorter the essay, the easier it is to write, hence, making it eas ier to skim over. However, the fact remains that longer expository essays are often more effective in terms of persuading the reader. Be ready to see how well you can sustain the momentum created by a well-written expository essay. The quality of the essay you choose should be high enough to catch the reader's attention, so that he or she is made to feel that you are a serious candidate for admission to your desired school. The good news is that you can save a lot of money if you are willing to compromise in some points. For instance, if your essay is not well written, you might want to go back to your college or university and ask them if they would allow you to retake it after making a few changes to it.Keep in mind that it is highly advisable to publish your essay as a comment piece to be submitted to a college's bulletin board oras a chapter in a class syllabus. If you want to make it a final draft, make sure that the essay is not only informative but also factual.Make sure that you carefully select the right wording to suit your target audience. Furthermore, it is important to use proper grammar and to make sure that you have chosen the correct typeset and fonts. It is quite normal to make a mistake here, so a simple correction of the errors should suffice. It is a smart idea to send the essay to your college's English department or to the head instructor of your college. Be sure to do this before your deadline so that you can be sure that you have completed the requisite writing tasks.

Précis Definition and Examples
Prà ©cis Definition and Examples A prà ©cis is aà brief summary of a book, article, speech, or other text. The basic characteristics of an effective prà ©cis are conciseness, clarity, completeness, unity, and coherence. According toà Barun K. Mitra, PhD, in Effective Technical Communication: A Guide for Scientists and Engineers, The most important task is to ensure that the original sequence of events and the flow of ideas remain unchanged. Pronunciation: PRAY-see Also known as: abstract, summary, executive summary, synopsis Plural: prà ©cis Alternate spelling: precis Etymology: From the Old French, condensed Examples and Observations I would say that the ability to write a prà ©cis is the central language skill. For a start, it is a craft essential in all professions and businesses; indeed, anyone whose work includes dealing with documents at some time (and that accounts for most people) will need prà ©cis skills as a matter of course... Such vocational considerations, though important, are not in my view the most telling, however. The fundamental value of prà ©cis is that it tests and exercises every aspect of linguistic competence,à says Richard Palmer in Write in Style: A Guide to Good English.[O]rganization of ideas, logical sequencing of points, clear and meaningful expression, [and the] use of language suitable to the situation are essential for writing prà ©cis effectively. The writer of prà ©cis must be able to identify the essential ideas in a given passage and separate them from nonessential ideas. But at the same time a prà ©cis is not a [type of] creative writing, inasmuch as it is merely a co ndensed restatement of the original writers ideas, points, etc., says Aruna Koneru in Professional Communication. Sample Prà ©cis Original passage from Aristotles Rhetoric (199 words):It is evident that those in the prime of life will be between the young and the old in character, subtracting the excess of either, and neither exceedingly conï ¬ dent (rashness is such) nor too fearful but having the right amount of both, neither trusting nor distrusting everybody but rather making realistic judgments and not directing their lives only to what is ï ¬ ne or what is advantageous but to both and neither to frugality nor to extravagance but to what is ï ¬ tting. Similarly in regard to impulse and desire. And they combine prudence with courage and courage with prudence, while among the young and the old these things are separated; for the young are brave and lack self-restraint, the older prudent and cowardly. To speak in general terms, whatever advantages youth and old age have separately, [those in their prime] combine, and whatever the former have to excess or in deï ¬ ciency, the latter have in due measure and in a ï ¬ tting way. The body is in its prime from the age of thirty to thirty-ï ¬ ve, the mind about age forty-nine. Let this much be said about the kinds of character of youth and old age and the prime of life. Prà ©cis from A Synoptic History of Classical Rhetoric (68 words):The character of those in the prime of life lies midway between that of youth and of age. Neither rash nor timid, neither skeptical nor overtrusting, they usually make choices on a true basis. They are not given to excess in desire, nor to lack of feeling or parsimony. They live respecting both honor and expediency. In short, the most useful traits of youth and age are theirs. Methods and Purpose A prà ©cis is not an outline, but a summary or digest. It is useful as an exercise in grasping the essential ideas of an already completed composition and in stating these ideas in concentrated form. The prà ©cis shears away all elaborations of the thought and gives only what is left, in such a way as to make the summary a complete composition. It does not, therefore, skeletonize the original composition so much as it reduces its scale. Many of the articles in The Readers Digest are only prà ©cis, so skillfully done that the average reader does not know that he is reading a summary. Since the prà ©cis says a great deal within a brief space, it is of great service in taking notes on library assignments and general reading, says Donald Davidson in American Composition and Rhetoric.
